The ammenities are the Iron Horse Museum downtown, Poopies south of town on Hwy 84 as well as other decent places to get a bite to eat and you can take a nice drive through the Mississippi Palisades Park north of Savanna

I happened upon this scenic back road while taking a shortcut to the Savanna/Subula bike fest a few summers ago, had to stop quite a few times along the way to admire the views, and for pics.

Took this route yesterday and found it was a nice alternative to the river ride. Just a note.....East Sumpter Road is a gravel road. Did not see this noted in any of the reviews.

I have been on parts of this route, more towards Savanna/Galena area closer to the Mississippi. The roads are great, the twists and turns are some of the best in the area and so are the hills and valleys. On a good weather weekend you will come across plenty of fellow riders sporting a wide array of machines. There is plenty of places to stop for food and drink along the way as well as plenty of stretches to open up and ride ! I plan on riding the full length of this route as pictured on the map this weekend, hope to see ya out there.

I would have given a higher rating, but I can't because there a few areas of bumpy patched road and you will need to watch out for sand &/or gravel that gets washed onto the road in the low land areas. But I still take this route when going to Savanna!
