This combo of Gold-Mine Road and Pa 125 to Shamokin is one of the most challenging roads in Pa if taken at a spirited pace. There are quite few tight switchbacks, elevation changes, sweepers and some wide open spaces.

Great ride! Not much traffic if you want to take your time and cruise along a slower pace to take in the scenery, or if you need to push the limits of your abilities. Some tight turns and extreme elevation changes will keep your interst peeked.

I have ridden this road many times over the years on a Road King, Dual Sport bikes, and various sportbikes. Also driven it many times in a pickup hauling my dirt bike up to Shamokin/Treverton to ride the strip mines and I always long to be on a bike. This road is fun on any type of bike in either direction although I prefer northbound. There are a few sneaky turns and blind crests on this road so I don't recommend a bonzai run on your first trip. Prerun 1 direction and then give it a more agressive run on the way back. Many sportbike guys do this as an out-back trip anyway. If you live within an hour of the south end of this route you can run up to Shamokin for a late breakfast/early lunch and be home in time to catch the ballgame. Its a great half day trip for anyone in Eastern Pa or Northern Md.

I cruise this road all the time, except I take off down 325. It has a great rolling stretch that takes you to 15, and a great view along the watershed lake, and property!

In the past 3 years, I have done this ride from Ft. Indiantown Gap military Army base, up Gold Mine Road to Tower City and then up 125 to Shamokin. Not a road for the beginner. There are a few switchbacks that will challenge you. Good mountain climbs and "S" turns. Twisties that tempt you to "grip and rip" in a good way. The first two times up and back, you can overdrive your bike if not careful. So, ease into the ride until you get familiar with the road. Probably the best road to test your alertness, leaning skills and braking. Simply loved it.

I road this south. Goldmine road is definitely not for a beginner. There are a couple of switchbacks that are challenging. With that said. It is a beautiful fun ride.

The combination of Goldmine Road and PA125 is great ! You can take it easy and enjoy the scenery and the elevation changes OR you can really challenge yourself on the tight turns - this can be a great workout for you and your scooter if you take it aggressively - be carefull though - this road has claimed more than a few bikers of late who pushed it beyond their limits.

In Shamokin Dam at Just South of the Rt15 / Rt 11 Split is an Econo Lodge. In the lodge is Villa Sanchez. Best authentic Mexican food I have ever had outside of Mexico, and you can't beat the reasonable price or great service. A favored stop when in that area!!

I start this ride at Ft. Indiantown Gap and complete the loop by taking Rt 225 from Shamokin through Elizabethville and Halifax to 22/322 east. Follow that to Rt 443 east back to Indiantown Gap. Great trip.

This was a great ride! I took this ride with my buddy who is new to motorcycling, so I had to take the twisties slower than normal. I would like to go back again and hit it a little harder. The scenery is great and the road quality ovrall is good, but watch it if there was weather recently. The BBQ place in Shamokin Dam (smokey's I think) is fantastic and worth the trip! There is also a seafood place we want to try.

If you stop in Shamokin, eat at Harry's. Right in town on PA 125 (Market Street) Outstanding food at outstanding prices. The road has a series of ridges it crosses, and each one has a sharp curve, usually on both sides of the mountains. Many sport bike riders like it, but many riders get in trouble due to not expecting the corners being what they are. I suggest picking it up down by Pine Grove and riding the entire road. Get gas before you get on, not much on PA 125. I live about 20 miles from 125, and this road and PA45 (and PA 445 north out of Millheim) are some of the best roads around. Just be sure you have gas. for any of them. Enjoy.

This is the best road I have found in PA, and there are some nice roads in PA. 125 is best ridden north bound.
We loop it in with RT 339 south bound and get a great day of fast riding.
We usually stop up in Bloomsburg for lunch and gas. Ride it at least once a month for the past couple years.

Whenever we can figure out where to go, this is the ride we end up doing. Some times we just head up to Skeeters after work in the summer.
This is a fantastic ride. The roads are all well maintained and smooth. The scenery is great. The road is well marked, no "gotcha!" curves. Watch out after heavy rain, there's often wash out and mud on the north side of the ride.
We ride from Harrisburg, starting at 443, to Goldmine, to 125, to 61, and stop at Skeeters. Then head down 11/15 back to Harrisburg.

I can also recommend taking Molleystown Rd when leaving Pine Grove on 125. It leaves 125, goes past Rausch Creek off road park and then reconnects with 125 after Main st. Great twisties and Fresh asphalt too.

While this route was overall amazing towards. Pay close attention to a particular 3 mile stretch. When you come up to a sign in the road that says your 9 miles from Shamokin and make that left, the next 3 mile stretch is very dangerous especially when going down hill on a 1 mile or so stretch. I noticed my brothers rear tire throwing lots of stones, but looking at the road you would never realize that there is an UNREAL amount of gravel. It literally blended perfectly with the road..AND It WAS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!...we got off the bikes and walked about a 50 yard stretch and realized the whole road was covered with a coat of top gravel... IT WAS BAD and I've been riding for 17 years and have never seen stuff like this. TAKE CAUTION im telling you!!!1

I did the Gold Mine Road to Tower city several times by bike 40 years ago on a Moto Guzzi. Hopefully the road has been regraded and repaved since my adventures. One of the switchbacks was graded wrong back then. Going North. near the top of the second mountain is a series of stone cliffs on the East perhaps 100 yds off the road. Some are 80 ft high and offer a great view of the Highbridge area.

Fantastic ride! Low on traffic and roads are in good shape. Ate at a restaurant called Heritage right in the heart of Shamokin. Food was fantastic. Took 61 to 225 to 147 all the way to 22/322. Nice slower paced yet scenic route to end the ride.

pretty road, great elevation changes, lots of turns on inclines and declines, but watch out for areas with cracked pavement, sand and gravel on intersections, and common road closures/detours after floods or other road damage.

I took this ride on Tuesday May 5th, 2020 from Bayonne NJ and it was an amazing route. The rode and towns that I got to ride trough were amazing along with the scenery. I would definitely recommend for anyone to ride this route, as it has many twistys, curves, corkscrews, and elevations along the way. It was definitely a get route to ride your motorcycle through, no matter what kind of a bike your on.

Stumbled upon this road with the advice of some friendly bikers i met along the on the side of the road. There are some sharp switchbacks on the mountain overpass and some smooth gentle hilly turns most of the way. Shamokin has a couple decent dive bars to stop at but not much else.
