My brother and I finished our 1-day, 200-mile tour of twisties in TN & NC with Tn32. They should call it "Moonshiner's Worm" - it's set way back in the woods and is every bit as twisted as the worm on a moonshine still.
After rolling through the Dragon, Hellbender, and Foothills Parkway, Tennessee 32 was tighter twister and more technically demanding than any of them. My brother rode a sport touring BMW and while he made it through quicker I was tired from the long day and took my time taking many tight double-back turns in second gear. This road IS NOT for new or minimally experienced riders. It is more difficult than the Dragon due to numerous tigh turns and steep climbs & descents. I rarely got above 20mph and when I did I almost immediately had to Get on the brakes to execute a tight turn/switchback. The pavement ends at the crossing of the Appalachian Trail. From that point it's down a fairly steep dirt road about a mile to the pavement and two more miles to interstate I 40.
For those who like very tight, technical, secluded rides Tennessee 32 is for you. For those who like views, sweeping turns, and carrying a little speed- STAY AWAY.

This is every bit as crazy as The Dragon. Even tighter I'd say. Crazy fun and little to no traffic but as the others said, it's not for beginners. And I measured the distance at the Appalachian trail and it's EXACTLY 1 mile of unpaved road. But it's steep and tight and if you came from NC on a bike and it was at all damp that 1 mile would ruin a great day. Such a shame. Just pave the last mile!

Nice ride, not for the faint of heart. This is a technical road especially on a cruiser. These corners come up quick and require some skill. Minimal traffic but if you do get behind someone be prepared for a snoozefest.
Pros: Very few adjoining roads /driveways = less traffic you would encounter.
Cons: Some turns can trick even experienced riders.

I came in from NC side. After exiting off I-40 it was only a few miles to the Tennessee state line but, about 2 miles worth of dirt road to get there. Once you hit the Tn. state line it is paved. This is a great road! Passed three vehicles. Great pavement. Serious tight twisties. A blast!

OK, nevermind my review above, haha. (I can't find how to delete or edit a previous review). Apparently I was on Trail Hollow Road, not on Waterville Road, and was on 32 for only about one or two miles, and I was nowhere near the technical section. Long story short, I will definitely make it back to do the full Highway 32.

I've been on the road before, but recently led a small group of eight bikes on this. A beautiful, twisty road with very light (if any) traffic. It is often referred to as the "Redneck Dragon." At the TN/NC border you cross the Appalachian Trail and pavement ends. Just make sure you're there in relatively dry weather. The packed dirt and light gravel were no problem for my rider, mostly on heavy touring bikes. It's 1.2 miles like this and has a couple switchbacks. You simply ride slowly and it's not a problem. I've ridden in 45 states. This is one of my favorite roads. A very pleasant ride and highly recommended.

The Tail of the Younger Dragon, I guess. This is what the TotD was like 25 years ago before word got out about it, and ruined it with crushing amounts of traffic, retarded speed limits and tourism. Just a completely insane twisty road with no apologies, no amenities, no relief. For max fun come at it from TN, ride it until it turns to dirt, turn around and do it again. It sure because messing around with dirt if you have some race replica or tourer bike. PROPER twisties, right here. No fluff.

Traveling from Gatlinburg heading east or north on Rt. 321 I took a right on Rt.32, Wow was I in for a nice surprise, this is as good as Tail Of The Dragon, as mentioned in previous reviews the last 1.6 miles is dirt, no issues navigating that section of road...even with Big Bikes. I highly recommend this route to all. Windy, Shady and the rhododendron were in bloom made for a spectacular ride.

So I rode this yesterday, but not on my bike. I had seen the reviews and description here, and vowed that when in the area, I was check out the road. I was in the area on a day-trip, but was in my SUV. I came in from the NC side from the intersate, and came in via the Waterville Road which you can see on the map, but it's not noted as part of the ride. I did not see any gravel/dirt section as noted in other reviews, so I wonder if the Waterville Rd bypasses the unpaved section? That said, it is very twisty and narrow, Waterville is considered a 2-way one lane road, so be alert to meet other vehicles. Since I came in from I-40 from the NC side, and I want to ride that stretch on my bike, this should be easily combined with other rides from the region.

I will definitely come back on my bike some day.

Quite possibly the twistiest paved Road in the Smoky Mountains. It's so twisty that it's arguably more fun in a car just because of how much you have to slow down through each turn on a motorcycle. Regardless of whether you're going by car or motorcycle this ride is pure insanity. I recommended strongly to anyone that will be down in that area. In my video posted above we went down to it from Tennessee turned around when it turned to gravel and went back out the way we came. I recommend this way.

Well worth the side trip on your way to the Tail of the dragon. Great corners, scenery, and almost no traffic. Not much in the way of Tourism but that is not why I ride

I camped close to this one so decided to take it on. For a new rider, this was a challenge and made me question why I chose it! Thankfully, I was on a small nimble Rebel 250 that is very forgiving, otherwise I believe I would have been in trouble.

Wow.... talk about tight corners. I had to laugh as some of the corners are so tight the pavement marking rig couldn't paint the lane markings around the turns. Lots of turns and only one car on the road when we were on it. It's kinda out there and remote so have some gas in the tank and other than a few houses there isn't anything on the road. The last mile or 2 at what would be the SE part(?) is dirt and only one lane. The dirt part was pretty well maintained. I would not want to run a full bagger down that road.
