One of my Premier leaf-peeping spots in October. Given how much canopy forest you ride through this and Smoke Hole Road are must do for a great leaf-peeping up-close experience. It should be noted that both of those roads mentioned are 1 and 1/2 laners in spots. So, be careful. This may be a bit of a twisty road but it's not something that you can really hoon on. The cruise and the scenery that's what you're here for.

I would like to add that the mapped version of this isn't actually Savage River Road. It's Westernport Road, which is also pretty good, but Savage River Road hugs Savage River Reservoir, and is better.
