Scenery
The route starts along the north edge of the Busch Memorial Conservation Area, then, after Mechanicsville, becomes a mostly wooded road for the remainder of the route, with the occasional farm field. The route follows the very hilly terrain of western St. Charles County on the north side of the Missouri River bluffs before ending on the river flat in Marthasville.
Drive Enjoyment
The road is very curvy without being too technical, and the hills and curves make for a fun ride without being a full rollercoaster ride. The road is well maintained rolled asphalt. Traffic can be somewhat heavy on weekends during the summer months.
Tourism Opportunities
The route starts in the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area, which has a number of hiking trails. The start is also near the former Weldon Springs Ordinance Works and Chemical Plant, where a variety of military ordinance was produced during WWII and nuclear materials were produced after the war. New Melle is home to Liz's Bar and Grille and the New Melle Baking Company, while Marthasville hosts Cori's Twin Gables.
